Waldorf Music Microwave 1 has revived its legendary Microwave synthesizer in the form of the new Microwave 1 plug-in, bringing the classic hybrid wavetable synthesis to today’s digital workstations. Originally launched 35 years ago, the first-generation Microwave became a staple in the music of the 90s, blending digital wavetable oscillators with analog Curtis filters to deliver deep basses, complex modulations, sharp leads, and silky pads that defined an era.
The Microwave 1 VST/AU plugin is a meticulous recreation of the original hardware, faithfully modeled to capture every detail of its iconic sound. With support from Wolfgang Palm, the creator of wavetable synthesis, Waldorf replicated the custom Waldorf ASIC chip and preserved its signature tone using ultra-high 250 kHz internal sampling.
