About uJAM Symphonic Elements BRAAASS
BRAAASS is part of UJAM’s Symphonic Elements line, and it comes with an origin story most plugins don’t have: Hans Zimmer is one of UJAM’s co-founders, and this instrument runs on his personal collection of brass recordings, captured at his Remote Control Studios and produced by Boris Salchow. That’s not marketing flavor text either, it’s the actual sample source behind the sound.
It’s built for composers, beatmakers, and producers who need real orchestral brass without the cost or time of hiring and recording a section. Programming convincing brass by hand, getting the swells, the hits, the articulations to sit right together, takes real skill and real time. BRAAASS skips that by giving you phrase-based performances instead of note-by-note programming: pick a Style, and the engine plays a ready-made brass phrase synced to your DAW’s tempo.
The instrument splits into Low Brass (tubas, bass trombones) and High Brass (trumpets, horns), controlled separately and blended with a crossfader, so you’re never stuck with a static one-size mix. Each of the 78 playing Styles comes with 6 phrases and 4 one-shot Additions, for 468 unique phrases total plus flexible one-shots for accents. Character and Motion FX shape the tone and movement of each layer independently, and Finisher effects push the sound further, useful well beyond film scoring; UJAM points out it works just as well in hip-hop and even techno as it does in a trailer cue.
Version 1.3.1 is a maintenance update on the current build. UJAM authorizes and delivers the plugin through its own app or a downloadable installer, and it supports VST2, VST3, AU2, and AAX, all 64-bit, across every major DAW: Ableton Live, Logic Pro, Pro Tools, FL Studio, Cubase, Studio One, Bitwig, Reaper, and Reason. All included MIDI phrases and sounds are royalty-free for commercial use.
